Topic B: Learning from and overcoming gender disparities through research
Carmen Leicht-Scholten PhD, Bs is Vice Dean for Studies Affair at the faculty of civil engineering. She is Head of the GDE Department for Gender and Diversity in Engineering, where she is working with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, natural scientists and social scientists. Prof Leicht-Scholten was participating in the development of the Institutional Strategy of RWTH in the framework of the German Excellence Initiative.
In this context responsible for the conception of the gender and diversity strategy of RWTH Aachen. As expert for gender and diversity studies she has been member in national and international advisory boards (so for example in the scientific board for diversity of the Austrian Ministry of Science, the WIST group of the European Commission, member of the jury of the Diversity Price Germany etc.) She is the German representative of genderSTE network, promoting a better integration of gender analysis in research and innovation. Her fields of research focuses on realizing sustainable and social responsible research by integrating gender and diversity perspectives in science and technology research and innovation processes.
