Dr Christine C. Jost Chris is a Participation and Impact Scientist who specializes in the relationship between climate change, gender and equity, socio-ecological health, emerging and transboundary diseases, innovation and institutional change. Her core competencies include participatory approaches to research; epidemiology; program design, management and evaluation based on theories of change and impact pathways; policy analysis and change; institutional analysis and capacity building; facilitation and training; professional writing; and team building.
Chris received her B.A. (1989) from Grinnell College, M.A. (2003) from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and D.V.M. (1996) from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in the USA. She has two decades of experience leading trans-disciplinary research and development projects in Africa and Asia in collaboration with academic, private, NGO, public and international partners. She is also a master trainer and facilitator in participatory epidemiology and participatory rural appraisal. From 2013-2014 Chris was science officer for the 'Linking Knowledge with Action' research theme of the CGIAR programme on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) (http://ccafs.cgiar.org/themes/linking-knowledge-action and http://ccafs.cgiar.org/gender). She was an epidemiologist with the International Livestock Research Institute (2007-2009) and an Assistant Professor in the Centre for Conservation Medicine International Program at the Cummings School (2000-2007). She practiced as a veterinarian in Massachusetts and New Mexico, and worked as a senior independent consultant. Chris has published widely and presented at numerous international conferences.
