Viviane Ralimanga is the gender program specialist within the cluster on governance and peace building at the UNPD Regional Service Center for Africa. She received her Master of Science in Agronomy from Louisiana State University USA after graduating from the Madagascar University on Agronomic Sciences. She has spent almost 10 years of her professional life working for the promotion of environmental protection and sustainable development.

She started her career within UN System with the World Bank as Aid Coordinator for Environmental Programme in Madagascar. She embraced the role of Technical Advisor for a regional programme on environment and development for Africa with the United Nation Sahelian Office and UNDP based in Abidjan. She continued with UNDP Madagascar as a Sustainable Development Advisor.  She decided that it was time for change. She embraced a new function and served as the Coordination Specialist for the UN System in Madagascar, namely the advancement of UN reform on coherence and delivering as one. She was a champion for the promotion of gender equity and advancement of women. She supported largely the campaign on the Millennium Development Goals MDGs including all MDGs related to girls and women empowerment and participated to the promotion of CEDAW and human rights campaign in general.   She has actively contributed to the launching of HIV AIDS Program and is a facilitator and trainer for HIV AIDS within UN system. She is now based in Addis Ababa with her nephew where she hopes to discover the wealthy culture of the country. She loves nature and music and enjoys practicing sports and aerobic with her colleagues and friends.
