Mr Chris Louw has headed up the Western Cape Regional Office of the National Empowerment Fund since January 2012. Chris has brought with him a wealth of experience from his 24 year banking career. Prior to joining the NEF, Chris was previously employed at Standard Chartered Bank for 9 years, a leading international bank operating in emerging markets.
He was one of the founding relationship managers of the bank at its opening in 2003, as was part of a successful team that has built a highly successful corporate banking operation in South Africa. He held the position of Director of Local Corporates and was responsible for the global banking requirements of SA’s large local corporates. Chris holds a Higher Certificate in Business Education from Technikon SA and a Higher Certificate in Financial Management from Damelin Business School. Chris also completed the highly accredited Credit Core Curriculum at Standard Chartered Bank, which specialises in credit and risk management, deal structuring and structured trade finance. The Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the United Kingdom endorses this program.
