Dr Angelique Wildschut is a senior researcher/post-doctoral fellow in the Education and Skills Development research programme. She obtained a BA in industrial psychology, an MPhil in political management, and a DPhil in political science from the University of Stellenbosch. This work has focused on gender in the professions broadly, and the medical profession specifically.
Before joining the HSRC in July 2004, she was an intern at the Public Education Office of Parliament (PEO) in Cape Town. During her work at the PEO she was involved in setting up and maintaining databases, and providing research support to promote public understanding and participation in parliamentary processes.Since her employment at the HSRC, she has built up expertise particularly in the study of Human Resources Development. Her areas of research interest include gender disparities and inequalities, and has recently been investigating how this is illustrated in the professions. Her publication record spans the authoring and co-authoring of several peer-reviewed journal articles, research reports, chapters in books and national and international conference presentations.
